ACT Critical Sectors List and Eligibility for 190 and 491 visa subclasses

ACT skilled migration program is currently open, and the CT Critical Skills List has been reviewed.

To be eligible for ACT – 491 nominations, the following criteria have to be met with a minimum of 65 points for the skilled migration: 

  • The applicant must be a resident in Canberra for the last three months before the Matrix submission date and continue to live in Canberra until the invitation. Any family members included in the application must have been a resident of Canberra for three months. If overseas, evidence needs to be provided.  
  • Either has the occupations listed on the ACT Critical sectors or is the primary holder of a subclass 457/482 sponsored by an ACT employer. The applicant must have worked with the sponsoring employer for at least three months holding 457/482 visa and have a minimum of 12 months validity at the matrix submission date.
  • The applicant must be working in Canberra for at least three months immediately before the matrix submission date. Work hours must be at least 20 hours per week, and the employment must be continuous. Internships, volunteer position or scholarships are not considered employment. The work can be for more than one employer and/or self-employed.
  • Any occupation with ANZSCO major occupation Group 1( Managers) or Group 2(Professionals) must have proof of English with a score of “ Proficient” or S” Superior” English.

  • The applicant must be a resident in Canberra for the last six months before the Matrix submission date and continue to live in Canberra until the invitation. Any family members included in the application must have been resident of Canberra for at least six months. If overseas, the evidence must be provided.
  • Either has the occupations listed on the ACT Critical sectors or is the primary holder of a subclass 457/482 sponsored by an ACT employer. The applicant must have worked with the sponsoring employer for at least six months holding 457/482 visa and have a minimum of 12 months validity at the matrix submission date.
  • The applicant must be working in Canberra for at least six months immediately before the matrix submission date. Work hours must be at least 35 hours per week, and the employment must be continuous. Internships, volunteer position or scholarships are not considered employment. The work can be for more than one employer and/or self-employed.
  • Any occupation with ANZSCO major occupation Group 1( Managers) or Group 2(Professionals) must have proof of English with a score of “ Proficient” or “Superior” English.
