Employer Sponsored Visa

The employer-sponsored visa ranges from a temporary visa to permanent visa subclass.

  • Temporary Skills Shortage Visa - subclass 482
  • Employer Nomination Scheme - subclass 186
  • Skilled Employer Sponsored (Provisional) - subclass 494

Subclass 482 is a temporary visa. To apply for this visa subclass, the occupation must be listed on either the medium and long term Strategic List (MLTSSL), Short Term Skills Shortage List (STSOL), or Regional Occupation List (ROL).

The occupations under the MLTSSL list are eligible to apply for a period of up to four years with an option to apply for the permanent residency after completing three years, whereas the applicants with occupations on STSOL is eligible to apply for two years unless there is an ITO exemption.

Subclass 186 is a permanent visa subclass. Under this visa subclass, there are three different streams:

  • Direct Stream
  • Temporary Residence Transition Stream
  • Labour Agreement Stream

Each stream has its eligibility requirements. To apply under the Direct stream, the applicant's occupation must be listed on the MLTSSL list.

Subclass 494 is a provisional visa subclass approved for a period for five years with an option to apply for permanent residency after three years. To apply for this visa subclass, the applicant must have a minimum three years of work experience and has an employer located in the regional area of Australia.

  • Labour Agreement Stream
